SIGNATURE-LEVEL

The idea behind the VR32:

A bit of history

The Telemann GPT from 2020 was a stroke of genius: it combined the exceptional "SATIE" DAC with a high-quality analog preamplifier in perfect symbiosis. It wasn't a preamplifier with a DAC board, nor was it a DAC with volume control. It was, and it is, something new with a strikingly elegant (short) signal path. This very concept is also found in the VV30 and VS30. Even the mechanical design, with vertically arranged circuit boards for the (1) power supply, (2) DAC, (3) input amplifier with source select, and the (4) line level amplifier with relay volume control, is also of crucial importance.

The new approach

The VR32 builds on this proven concept, which has been tested through numerous prototypes and test units. Only in certain areas the basic concept can be improved or expanded:

  • By dividing the analog input and output boards into two separate boards, channel separation is maximized and thus crosstalk is minimized, resulting in 6 (instead of 4) vertical boards.
  • The newly designed analog input can now balance unbalanced signals much more effectively. This is crucial because the volume control relay network requires a perfectly balanced signal to function optimally. Therefore, unbalanced or poorly balanced source devices now sound better.
  • Knob operated volume control with 160 steps, giving a more “analog” feeling in operation.
  • Two analog outputs, individually switchable for connecting or disconnecting headphones or a subwoofer. Also allows the VR32 to be used as a control unit for two separate zones (rooms).
